December 2005 Theme ~ "Favourite Winter Holiday"
Our contest assignment for December was to write a poem about a favorite winter holiday or special occasion.Congratulations to our December winners!
Christmas Blessings
With every passing year as we grow oldThere are times we remember as sweet memories told
A day when we had Christmas at gram-mom and grand-dads
And grandchildren laughed and we parents were glad.
A day when the table was set in good dishes
And people smiled and waved and sent you good wishes
The snow was piled high on the windows pane
Scarves and mittens were wet all over again.
Rosy red faces came in from the cold
Gramma made hot chocolate and a story was told
Of how things were when our grandparents were kids
All the hardships or silly things they certainly did.
I remember these things this year most of all
For this year when Santa comes to call
I will ask him to send a kiss up to Heaven
For mom and dad and those who aren't living.
I will bless this new Christmas with love and content
For knowing to Heaven the grandparents were sent
I will kiss my grandchildren and hug then so tight
And be the gramma who makes hot chocolate tonight !!

Christmas time is for love peace and joy
For celebrating the birth of a special boy
He looks down on us from Heaven above
As we praise Him with everlasting love
Christmas is being together as family
Singing carols around the lighted tree
Sharing and giving, the smiles of the children
Being blessed by His Love forever Amen

Christmas
Christmas comes but once a year,Bringing along, for many, great cheer.
Bright, beautiful, glittering decorations,
Showing all one's handiwork and creations.
The joy of giving and the fun of sharing
Means more to me than receiving.
But to me the best part of Christmas
Is remembering the Birth of Christ.
The remembering of the the reason
For us having this wonderful season
The giving of gifts and the sharing of love
All come joyously with the his presence above.
