If I Were a Christmas Cookie...

This mini assignment was to write a short poem beginning with the words "If I were a Christmas cookie......"

If I were a Christmas cookie, waiting on Santa's plate,
I'd be the very best one that Santa ever ate.
And when he'd finished every crumb and all his cocoa too,
I'd ride 'round in his tummy wishing "Merry Christmas to you!"

If I were a Christmas cookie, I'd like to be a spritz,
All crisp and full of butter, now don't think I'm a ditz!
It's delicate and shapely, and always quite a treat,
Oh yes, I'd love to be a spritz, 'cause they just can't be beat!

If I were a Christmas cookie, I think I'd like to be
A rolled-up crispy rugulach, 'cause it's a bit like me....
It's sweet and also spicy, and sometimes nutty, too,
And if I had some rugulach, I'd share a bite with you!

If I were a Christmas cookie...

Stir cookie mix, melted butter, egg, and flour.
Almond extract, white chocolate, add green food color.
When the soft dough forms, press us into trees.
Place a pretzel stick underneath to make a trunk for these.
Place us in the oven…quick take a lookie
In 6-8 minutes…out come snowcapped tree cookies

What a treat I would be.
You know you have to leave me
For Santa under the Christmas tree.

If I were a Christmas cookie......
wait a minute, wait a minute,
I don't want to be a Christmas cookie!
Somebody will eat me and then after they do
They won't like me 'cause I had too many calories!

But if I were a cookie I would be a Christmas cookie ornament
that could last forever and be hung every year on the tree,
so I could watch the children open their presents
and see the joy on their faces every Christmas
for years to come, as I travel through the generations.

IF I WERE A CHRISTMAS COOKIE

If I were a Christmas cookie
I would be soft, to replace every hardened heart
And every bite someone takes of me
Would give their life a new start

If I were a Christmas cookie
My aroma would remind you of PEACE
And as long as you can inhale me
All violence will have to cease

If I were a Christmas cookie
My flavor would taste like JOY
I would put smiles on the faces
Of every homeless or sick girl or boy
